What is Web Bot Auth?
WebBotAuth is a secure identification framework that allows bots and AI agents and Agentic Browsers to cryptographically prove their identity, enabling websites to distinguish trusted automation from malicious traffic. By establishing verifiable bot identities, it empowers site owners with fine-grained access control, reduces abuse, and opens the door for new models like pay-per-access and agent-to-agent collaboration.
How does it work?
WebBotAuth enables bots and AI agents to sign their HTTP requests using cryptographic keys, proving their identity to websites. Each bot uses a private key to generate a tamper-proof signature, which is included in the request. Websites verify the signature using the bot’s public key, allowing them to authenticate the source, enforce access policies, and distinguish trusted automation from malicious traffic. This creates a secure, verifiable foundation for bot interactions across the web.
